John is the Melbourne based former head of the Construction and  Engineering division of Norton Rose Australia and after more than 30 years’ practice exclusively in construction law, is a recognised authority in his field.  Widely acknowledged as one of Australia’s most experienced construction lawyers, he drafts and negotiates all forms of construction contracts and advises clients on all aspects of construction law including the resolution of disputes.

John’s clients include some of the most significant stakeholders in Australia’s construction industry.

John is a Senior Fellow of the University of Melbourne.  In addition to writing numerous articles in the field, he has co-authored two books, Building and Construction Contracts and Commercial Arbitration and is the state editor for Victoria and Tasmania of Building and Construction Law.

In 2006 John’s contribution to the law was acknowledged when he was made a member of the Order of Australia. In 2008 the government of Victoria appointed John as a member of the Victorian Skills Commission.
